Package Overview What this trip is, in a nutshell
"From rainforest to the Roof of Africa: climb Kilimanjaro's scenic Machame Route with a private crew and a carefully paced summit strategy."

This private six-day trek follows the classic Machame Route from dense rainforest to Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, Barranco Wall and the high alpine desert at Barafu. The summit attempt begins around midnight, reaches the crater rim near Stella Point at dawn when conditions allow, and continues to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres only when the guide considers it safe.

Your party has its own professional mountain guide, assistant guides according to group size, cook and porter team. Porters carry the main duffels while the crew establishes supported camps, prepares meals, treats drinking water and conducts daily health monitoring. Five nights are spent in expedition-style sleeping tents at designated public camps: Machame, Shira Cave, Barranco, Barafu and Millennium.

The displayed USD 1,530 rate is the supplied 2026 benchmark per person for either a solo climber or a party of two or more. Larger private parties may receive a tailored efficiency-based quotation. A private single sleeping tent, premium equipment and the strongly recommended seven-day acclimatisation schedule can be quoted separately.

Kilimanjaro weather and trail conditions can change in every season. Reaching Stella Point or Uhuru Peak is never guaranteed: health, acclimatisation, weather and the mountain guide's safety decision always take priority, and the route may be shortened or descent required.

Lava Tower Acclimatisation and Barranco Valley

Day description

Trek through high moorland and alpine desert to Lava Tower at about 4,600 metres, then descend into Barranco Valley. Sleeping lower at Barranco Camp supports acclimatisation after the day's high point.

Morning

Follow a conservative pace across exposed high moorland toward Lava Tower. Terrain becomes drier and more volcanic as the route gains altitude.

Afternoon

Take lunch or an acclimatisation break near Lava Tower, subject to conditions, then descend toward the sheltered Barranco Valley and camp at about 3,960 metres.

Evening

Complete the guide health check, eat dinner and prepare for the Barranco Wall. The lower sleeping altitude often feels more comfortable after the high point.
