Package Overview What this trip is, in a nutshell
Designed for travellers already staying in Zanzibar, this private four-day safari uses scheduled flights to bridge the Indian Ocean and the northern wildlife circuit of Tanzania. Instead of adding separate positioning nights in Arusha, the journey lands in Arusha and moves directly into Tarangire, then continues through the Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro before flying back to Zanzibar on Day 4.
The accommodation pattern deliberately mixes boutique comfort and luxury: a small highland lodge in Karatu, a luxury tented camp inside the Central Serengeti, and a luxury lodge in the Ngorongoro highlands. Your party travels in its own pop-up-roof 4x4 with a professional guide-driver, giving greater control over photography stops, wildlife interests and comfort breaks than a shared road safari.
Wildlife possibilities include elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, lions and many antelope and bird species. Leopards, cheetahs and black rhinos may be encountered in suitable habitats, but no wildlife sighting is guaranteed. The Central Serengeti is selected for its strong resident-wildlife value and efficient location; migration-focused travellers may need a different sector and more time.
This package is best for guests who want high-value wildlife variety in a short timeframe and are comfortable with active travel days. The quoted rate is based on two travellers sharing and includes the roundtrip scheduled Zanzibar-Arusha flights within the stated flight budget.
Accommodation is subject to availability. If a named property is unavailable, Splendor Safari may propose a comparable property of a similar standard and location.

Day description
A morning flight from the Indian Ocean to Arusha, then straight into Tarangire for a private game drive among baobabs and elephant herds, finishing in the cool Karatu highlands.
Morning
Private transfer from your Zanzibar hotel or agreed meeting point to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, then the confirmed scheduled flight to Arusha. Your Splendor Safari guide-driver meets you at Arusha Airport, completes a short safari briefing and begins the drive southwest toward Tarangire.
Afternoon
Enter Tarangire National Park and enjoy a picnic lunch at an authorized site, then begin a private game drive through baobab woodland, open savanna and seasonal drainage lines. The Tarangire River system becomes especially important during dry periods, though wildlife distribution changes with rainfall and season. Game viewing continues with time for elephant family groups, giraffes, zebra, buffalo, antelope and birdlife where encountered; lions and other predators are possible but never guaranteed. Your guide balances productive viewing against the need to exit the park before gate-closing time.
Evening
Drive up to Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands, check in, enjoy dinner and rest after the flight-and-safari day.

Martina's Retreat
About this stay
A boutique highland lodge in Karatu - a quiet base after Tarangire and practical positioning for the Serengeti transfer. Alternatives: Acacia Farm Lodge; Farm of Dreams Lodge.
The quality of Day 1 depends on using an early Zanzibar-Arusha flight. If the confirmed flight arrives too late for a worthwhile Tarangire game drive, Splendor Safari will redesign the order rather than promise an unrealistic park day. Breakfast is not in

| Approx. distance | Approx. 240-280 km by road |
| Approx. road-driving duration | Approx. 5-6 hours pure transfer time; longer with entry, scenic and game-viewing |
| Transport | 4x4 Land Cruiser Pop-up |
Day description
A long, scenic overland day through the Ngorongoro highlands and Naabi Hill that turns into an afternoon game drive across the plains, ending at a luxury tented camp inside the Central Serengeti.
Morning
After breakfast, travel through the Ngorongoro Highlands and conservation area. Pause at an authorized viewpoint when conditions and timing allow, then continue toward Naabi Hill and the Serengeti boundary. The road itself moves through changing vegetation and expansive volcanic landscapes.
Afternoon
Enjoy a packed or picnic lunch during the transit, complete Serengeti entry formalities, and turn the journey toward Seronera into an en-route game drive - wildlife presence varies daily, so your guide responds to fresh tracks, radio information and local conditions rather than a fixed species checklist. Explore the open plains, kopjes and riverine corridors of the Central Serengeti, where resident wildlife can include lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, hyena and antelope; cheetah and leopard are possible in suitable habitat but cannot be guaranteed.
Evening
Reach camp for dinner and your night under canvas. Camp staff will explain safe movement after dark and any property-specific procedures.

Tukaone Hembe Camp
About this stay
A luxury tented camp inside Central Serengeti National Park - keeping you inside the wildlife area and supporting an early Day 3 game drive. Alternatives: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge; Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.
This is a long but logical overland day. Travellers who want substantially more Serengeti game-drive time should add a fifth day rather than compress the road transfer. A Serengeti balloon safari (approx. US$599 pp) can be pre-booked for tomorrow morning.
Day 3 Seronera Dawn and the Return to the Ngorongoro Highlands
Day 3 — Seronera Dawn and the Return to the Ngorongoro Highlands
| Starting location | Central Serengeti |
|---|---|
| Pass-by location | Seronera plains and kopjes, Naabi Hill, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Maasai pastoral country |
| Ending location | Karatu |
| Main destination | Central Serengeti And The Ngorongoro Highlands |
| Approx. departure | Approx. 06:15-06:45 for the morning game drive |
| Approx. arrival at lodge | Approx. 17:30-19:00 at the Karatu lodge |
| Approx. distance | Approx. 175-205 km road transfer plus game-drive tracks |
| Approx. road-driving duration | Approx. 4.5-5.5 hours pure transfer after the game drive |
| Transport | 4x4 Land Cruiser Pop-up |
Day description
An unhurried dawn game drive through the Seronera waterways and kopjes, then the east-bound return across the conservation area to a luxury lodge positioned for the crater descent.
Morning
Start early when temperatures are cooler and wildlife activity can be high. Explore the Seronera waterways, open plains and nearby kopje systems according to recent sightings and road conditions. The focus is unhurried observation rather than chasing every reported animal.
Afternoon
Enjoy a packed or picnic lunch before beginning the west-to-east return toward Naabi Hill. Seasonal herds may be encountered in the Central Serengeti, but their location changes with rainfall and grazing conditions, and the standard route is not sold as a guaranteed migration programme. Continue through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Karatu; if time, permits and traveller interest allow, an Olduvai Gorge or authorized cultural stop can be discussed in advance, though your guide will not compromise safe arrival time merely to add a stop.
Evening
Check in at your lodge in the Karatu / Rothia Valley area, enjoy dinner and prepare for the early crater descent.

Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge
About this stay
A luxury lodge in the Rothia Valley near Karatu, roughly 30 minutes from the Ngorongoro gate according to the property - a comfortable final safari night with convenient access for the dawn descent. Alternatives: Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge; Acacia Farm Lodge.
A balloon flight can be fitted into this morning, but it reduces flexibility for the long road return. For a premium pace, the stronger design is to add one more Serengeti night.
Day 4 Ngorongoro Crater Finale and the Flight Back to Zanzibar
Day 4 — Ngorongoro Crater Finale and the Flight Back to Zanzibar
| Starting location | Karatu |
|---|---|
| Pass-by location | Ngorongoro crater floor, Lerai forest, lake-edge wetlands, Arusha Airport |
| Ending location | Zanzibar |
| Main destination | Ngorongoro Crater |
| Approx. departure | Approx. 05:45-06:15 from Karatu |
| Approx. arrival at lodge | Zanzibar in the evening, subject to the confirmed Arusha-Zanzibar flight |
| Approx. distance | Approx. 190-225 km road travel plus crater game-drive tracks |
| Approx. road-driving duration | Approx. 4-5 hours road travel outside a 4-5 hour crater safari, plus flight time |
| Transport | Domestic Flight |
Day description
A pre-sunrise descent onto the crater floor for a four-to-five-hour private game drive, then the drive to Arusha Airport and the scheduled flight back to the Indian Ocean.
Morning
Depart before sunrise and enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the crater for a private game drive across grasslands, marsh, forest pockets and seasonal lake-edge habitats. The crater supports a high density of wildlife, but even here no individual species is guaranteed.
Afternoon
Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site, continuing to view wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, gazelles, hippos, hyenas, lions and other species where encountered - black rhino are possible but are never presented as a guaranteed sighting. Ascend the crater and drive to Arusha Airport with an operational buffer for check-in, then board the confirmed scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Splendor Safari will only sell the same-day flight connection when the published schedule provides a realistic margin after the crater safari.
Evening
Arrive in Zanzibar and transfer to your hotel where that service is included in the final quotation. If the available Arusha flight departs too early, the safer option is an Arusha overnight and a next-day flight rather than shortening the safari beyond reasonable value.

Meals
Do not book an inflexible early-afternoon flight from Arusha. The final flight must be selected after allowing for crater activity, road conditions, gate procedures and airline check-in. Both Zanzibar sectors are domestic flights - use soft-sided baggage
