Tanzania's domestic network is run by small operators — Coastal Aviation, Auric Air, Regional Air, Safari Airlink and Precision Air — flying twelve to twenty-seat Cessna Caravans between Arusha, the Serengeti airstrips, Ngorongoro, Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and the southern parks.
They are scheduled services that work rather like a bus route: the aircraft may touch down at two or three airstrips before yours, and each stop takes a few minutes. Flights are usually mid-morning and mid-afternoon, so you keep the best game-viewing hours on the ground.
The one rule that catches people out is baggage: 15 kg per person including hand luggage, in a soft bag with no rigid frame, because the hold is a curved locker. It is genuinely enforced. Anything over can be left securely at your Arusha hotel or with us until you come back.
