A mobile camp is a full tented camp — beds, linen, en-suite bucket showers, a mess tent and a dining table — that is dismantled and rebuilt several times a year in step with the wildebeest. In the calving season it sits in the southern Serengeti; by mid-year it has moved to the western corridor; by August it is in the north near the Mara River.
The advantage is entirely about distance. Instead of driving two or three hours each way to reach the herds from a permanent lodge, you step out of your tent into them. In peak migration weeks that can be the difference between watching a river crossing and hearing about one.
Comfort sits between camping and a tented lodge: proper beds and hot water brought to your shower on request, but no mains power, limited charging and no pool. Because the camps are small — often six to twelve tents — and move with the season, they sell out earlier than anything else we book.
