Mid-range is where the majority of our bookings sit, and for good reason. You stay in proper lodges and tented camps with en-suite bathrooms, hot water, reliable power and usually a pool, but without the price of a luxury concession.
Camps are inside or immediately beside the parks, so game drives start where the animals are. Food is buffet or set menu and generally very good. Vehicles are the same extended-roof Land Cruisers used at every level, either shared with up to six or private if you prefer.
If you are unsure where to pitch a first safari, this is the level to start at. It is comfortable enough that nothing distracts from the wildlife, and priced so that you can afford enough days to see it properly — which matters far more than thread count.
